HGotW: TJ Thyne

Around here Thursday (usually) means Hotness. :)

The guy I've chosen for this week is pretty awesome. He plays Dr. Jack Hodgins on Bones which airs Thursdays at 8 PM on FOX.

Bones is a fantastic show written by amazing writers with wonderful characters portrayed by awesome actors. If you've never seen it you should totally give it a try!

(If for no other reason than the pretty people that are all over the place!)

Anyway, This weeks HGotW . . .

TJ Thyne

Do you see his eyes? Also, I really just want to play with his hair. :)

It's funny that the Girl I've chosen for this week is also  on a show that airs Thursdays at 8 PM but on CBS. The Big Bang Theory. Funny show! I have to admit the first couple episodes I watched did nothing for me. However, after I watched a few more episodes and got to know the characters a little better I was sold.

Don't choose between the two shows! Tivo! DVR! VHS! Something! Watch both!

Our lady of the day . . .

Kaley Cuoco

Hope you enjoyed today's post! Have a great day!

A New Me (Sort of)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this probably isn't going to be the most exciting blog post you'll read today . . . On the other hand, it's possible that it will be.

Ready? Here we go!

I made a change this week. Yesterday actually. ( I didn't change Yesterday, I made the change yesterday. Just saying.)

I've been thinking about this change for a while. I wasn't really loving my Twitter name for various reasons and decided I wanted to change it.

The problem with that is A. I was very very used to that name and changing it was big for me. Haha. and B. To change my name I had to choose a name to change it too.

Creativity? Not really my strong suit.

After trying LOTS of different names, most of which were already taken, I finally settled on a new name: @Justaddjava

So, if you're following me on Twitter . . . Heads up! Name change!

If you're not following me on Twitter . . . Why aren't you following me on Twitter? Eh, I'll forgive you . . . THIS time. However! If you want to follow me on Twitter I'm @Justaddjava now!

So, what's the verdict? Most exciting of the day? (I didn't think so.)

EDIT: The URL of this blog has also been changed to http://www.justaddjava.blogspot.com/. I'm not sure how this affects those of you who have subscribed to my blog. It's possible you may need to resubscribe.

A Melted Flipper

Meet my favorite spatula . . . or flipper . . . or turner . . . or  . . . Whatever you want to call it!

This thing came with a set of pots and pans and cooking utensils that I received as a gift ages ago. I love it! I use it all the time! Can't you tell?

It's cracked, broken and melted but it's my favorite. It's so good for flipping omelette's.

However, all good things must come to and end and I fear the end is soon for my favorite flipper. I have a problem though. I Can't Find Another One!!!

I've looked all over (with the exception of Bed, Bath and Beyond but only because I haven't been there yet) and I can't find any like it!

If anyone knows where I might be able to find another one like it . . . Please, share??

Scavenger Hunt Sunday! (on Monday!) I

As I was wandering around the internet last week I came upon this blog: Ramblings and Photos by Ashley Sisk.

On this blog I discovered Scavenger Hunt Sunday, a photo scavenger hunt. I thought this might be something fun to do so I'm linking up!

Disclaimer: I am in No Way a photographer. No way. At All. I have a little Kodak 12 mega pixel digital camera with which to work. So, The following are my responses to this weeks Scavenger Hunt prompts. If you want to check out other peoples interpretations than you can grab this link here check them out.

1. Decay (Old/Abandoned)
Definitely old. Definitely abandoned. Definitely decaying. I was having issues with this prompt because I couldn't think of what to photograph. I decided to take a drive around town and I stumbled upon this. I had totally forgotten it was there and I pass it All the time! I actually managed to find something else also but between the two this was more fun.

2. Groups of Three
Immediately upon reading this prompt this photo popped into my head. I had to honor that, right? Also, a photo of M&M's in groups of three requires you purchase a bag of M&M's. And you know, after you buy a bag of M&M's and open it to photograph the contents then you Have to do Something with the leftovers! Yum!

3. Kitchen
This is yummy sauce for yummy non-lasagna Lasagna that I made the other day. No great big lasagna noodles to mess with, just use mini pasta shells. The recipe is here: Cheesy Shell Lasagna. I should say the BASE recipe is there. I NEVER follow a recipe exactly (unless I'm baking) I just sort of use it as a guidline and then create my own masterpiece (messterpiece?) around it.

4. Things that make you go hmmmm . . .
Nothing makes me go "hmmmm" like God's Word. There are so many wonderful nuggets in there and so many other things that make me think. I love it!

5. "ME" Time
Total "ME" time right there! I know, I know, it's not the best thing for you but I find extremely hard to get Any kind of tan unless I use this. I basically sign up for one month a year and I'm set for the Summer. Twenty minutes all to myself. No one asking for a drink or a snack, no phone calls, no knocks at the door, noses to wipe or hands to wash. Nothing. Total "ME" time!

Well, that concludes my first entry into Scavenger Hunt Sunday. It was so much fun to do this! Thank you, Ashley, for thinking this up! I can't wait to get to work on next weeks prompts!

Sunday Silly - Children's Logic

Another Fun and Silly E-mail I recieved. Enjoy!

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.

The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'

The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.'

The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.'

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to 'honour' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?'

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

--------------------------------------------------------------

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor..'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'

-------------------------------------------------------------

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'

'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'

A little fellow shouted,

'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples.'

Hope you have a great day!

Where Do You Get Your Food?

We had a Sunday School lesson about Elijah.

During a drought God sent Elijah to live near a brook where he would have water. Of course, Elijah needed more than water to live so everyday ravens would come to Elijah and bring him meat and bread.

The point of the story was that God will provide our needs.

I told the Kiddo's that God probably wasn't going to send them food through birds but they get their food other places.

So I asked "Where do you get your food?"

One young man (5 years old) told me that his Mom bought food at the store.

Then I turned and asked the same question of a four year old girl. "Where do you get your food?"

Her answer: TaMolly's. (In case you don't know what TaMolly's is it's a pretty popular Mexican Restaurant chain around here.)

She totally made my morning.

HGotW: Bradley Cooper

On Monday I went to see Limitless . . . That should be enough to give away who this weeks Hot Guy. (You know, if it weren't up there in the title.)

I wouldn't really call myself a "fan" of Bradley Cooper, before. I mean, I've seen him around and I've always enjoyed seeing him around but I never ran out to the movies just to see him.

That was before.

I'm all about the Cooper now. :) Hehe. Well, I'm More aware anyway. I am now more inclined to run out and view a movie in which Bradley Cooper stars.

Enough talk already, where's the man?

Right! Here he is . . .

Bradley Cooper

*Sigh*

I just love those last two. Not sure why but, yeah.

When trying to decide on a girl to feature I was having issues. I couldn't figure out who to choose. Then, we rented Morning Glory and the choice became clear.

Also, she was in Wedding Crashers in which she had a few scenes opposite Bradley Cooper. See? It all worked out!

This weeks "Hot Girl" (Hot Gal?) is . . .

Rachel McAdams

Not a fan of the blond hair but Love the smile!

So Pretty!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this weeks HGotW post! Have a great day!

Indiana Kiddo

A couple weeks ago the USA Network aired ALL the Indiana Jones movies.

Now, the Kiddo has the Indiana Jones Lego XBox game. So, when I saw that the movies were on I waited for a part that I knew was in the game and called the Kiddo into the room to watch. That was it. He never left the room after that.

My FOUR year old sat through almost an entire Indiana Jones movie. (Scary moments edited by Mommy's "Close your eyes" warnings. Or I changed the channel.) Then later he spied another one of the movies. Once again we watched almost an entire movie. THEN, he discovered that we have them all on DVD!

Ever since he's been begging to watch Indiana Jones. Now, I don't mind him being an Indy fan but I can't just put one of those movies on for him and leave the room. Not yet anyway. But, one day J told the Kiddo he would watch one with him. They watched Indiana Jones and Raider's of the Lost Ark.

The Kiddo loved it. He watched the whole movie.

A little while later I was watching the Kiddo. He had two toys and he put one of them on the arm of the sofa. Then, he did something with his hands and quickly switched one toy for the one on the sofa. He began to walk away, then he stopped, turned around, looked up and took off running.

I watched a couple times trying to figure it out before I asked what he was doing. He told me he was getting the statue and running from the ball. Ahhhh,

I watched more carefully and he was indeed mimicking Indy as he contemplated the weight of the idol compared to the bag of sand, switched them and was then forced to run from the giant boulder.

He even hummed the Indy theme song as he ran from the boulder.

Who needs a TV when you have a four year old to entertain you!?

randomtuesday

1. Do you wear a watch? I do. My actual question is: Do you wear it with the face on the back of your wrist or underneath? I always wear mine with the face underneath. Not sure why. I think I got it from my Mom.

2. I feel stupid just asking but can Anyone tell me what the hashtag #fb is for?!?!?!

3. We had a missionary come through our church last week. It was very amusing. He had just recently returned from Mexico and when he began to speak faster he caught himself, more than once, sliding from English (his first language) into Spanish.

4. I'm SO excited about our trip to Pennsylvania! I'm NOT excited about the airports but I can't wait to see my family!

5. Black Widow Spider on my door step! Cue the Freaking Out! I'm not generally afraid of spiders but I am afraid of Poisonous Spiders (Duh!) I called the apartments and they no longer spray for spiders (they did last year) because it's too expensive. GRRRR! I'm going to go grab something at Walmart and Do It Myself!

6. I went to see Limitless last night. I approve. I also approve of Bradley Cooper. Bradley Cooper is pretty. I totally see Bradley Cooper showing up in this weeks Hot Guy of the Week post.

7. A Giveaway? Here? I'm thinking . . . Yes! It will be my first giveaway. It won't be anything HUGE or AMAZING but it will be cute and it will be something that I wouldn't mind winning. (Why would I giveaway something I wouldn't want to win myself?) Stay tuned!!

I think that should do it! Have a great Random Tuesday and a great week!!

Traditional Irish Dinner

St. Patrick's Day was last Thursday. I love St. Patrick's Day!

This year, for the first time, I did the whole traditional Irish meal.

I made Corned Beef, Cabbage, Potatoes, Carrots and Irish Soda Bread!

It took hours to cook it all. I put the meat in the pot and boiled it forever. I chopped carrots and cabbage and then peeled and cut potatoes. I made the bread dough. I made a giant mess in the kitchen, more than once, and cleaned it all up, more than once.

I was so happy with the way it all turned out.

I've never actually had Corned Beef and cabbage. Actually, I don't think I've ever had Corned Beef at all. I've also never had Irish Soda Bread. So, I'm not exactly sure how it was all supposed to taste but I think it tasted Pretty good!

The Kiddo liked it too! J, of course, only ate the meat and potatoes because he's sort of (A LOT) picky. I loved it!

Sunday Silly - The Pastor's Business Card

A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners.

At one house it seemed obvious that someone as at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis 3:10." Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.

Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock."

Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for I was naked."

A Carrot??

Last Sunday our memory verse in Sunday School was "He careth for you."

Monday I received a message on my Facebook page from the Mother of one of my kids.

"Ok, so Sunday afternoon Lil asks if I want to hear her memory verse, of course I do! She says, very seriously..." A carrot for you." I just laughed and told her what it really was and she got mad at me!! lol"

"Her careth for you." and "A carrot for you" do sound remarkably similar.

In my defense, as her teacher, Lil knew the correct way to say the verse in our class!

I love kids!

An Excerpt From My Wardrobe: Crazy Irish Wannabe Edition

I'm not insane . . . I promise . . .

It's just that I can't resist a St. Patrick's Day shirt!

In my defense, these have been collected through the years . . . I didn't buy them all at one time! :)

They're just so cute. And such pretty colors!

I also have a pair of dorm pants with Kermit the Frog and clovers on them that says "It's Not Easy Being Green" but I forgot to put them in the photo.

Seriously, can't resist!

Which one will I wear tomorrow . . . ? Hmmmmm

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

Happy Random Tuesday, Everyone! What does that mean? Well, if you don't know then you need to click the box and find out! Pop over to Keely's blog and get in on the random!

randomtuesday

1. You know what's awkward? Following someone on Twitter who follows you, talking to them occasionally and not being sure if they're male or female . . .

2. Speaking of Twitter. Are you on Twitter? Are you a "Team Follow Back" kind of a person? Do you automatically follow the (REAL) people that follow you? Or do people follow you and you leave them hanging out there, following you but not being followed in return. If you don't follow everyone back, do you feel guilty when they talk to you often (and you of course talk to them in return) but you don't follow them? Or is that just me? I already follow too many people. I can't follow everyone back!

3. One of the kids on my Sunday School class was acting up a bit and I told him he had to listen to me or he'd have to go sit with his Grandmother. He said "I'm little." I assumed he meant he was little so he had to stay in my Sunday School class and not go in with the adults. I said "Little?" He said "Yea, I'm little. I haven't learned how to listen yet." Oh really? Child logic cracks me up. I assured him that he was not too little to learn to listen.

4. One thing about Summer coming that makes me happy? The Summer Movie Club House at our movie theatre. A kids movie every Tuesday at ten AM for a buck a person! Yay!

5. Speaking of . . . Is it "Theater" or "Theatre" that is the correct spelling?

6. Temporary Insanity is a ridiculous plea!! I go temporarily insane sometimes too. When I do eat two pieces of cake or I leave the laundry in the washer overnight or I buy that way too expensive item . . . I DON'T KILL PEOPLE!!!

7. If you don't like CNN then Turn it off! If you don't like Fox News then turn it off! Why complain about them all the time?

Is that enough random for today? I think so! If you're in the mood for more random check out Keely's blog OR write your own and Link Up!!

Have a great Random Tuesday!

Messages in the Sand

I love my best friend because she's awesome.

She was in Florida last week vacationing. She wrote an "I love you" note in the sand on the beach for her man and posted it on Facebook.

Naturally my comment said "Awwww . . . Where's mine?"

Not long after that I received a photo on my phone and this photo was posted on Facebook:

See? She's awesome! :) Hehe

Also, I'm TOTALLY jealous that she was at the beach and I wasn't!

Sunday Silly - Traffic Camera

Once again, this was in my e-mail inbox and I'm sharing it with you. :) Enjoy!

I was driving when I saw the flash of a traffic camera. I figured that my picture had been taken for exceeding the limit even though I knew that I was not speeding.

Just to be sure, I went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed.

Now I began to think that this was quite funny, so I drove even slower as I passed the area once more, but the traffic camera again flashed.

I tried a fourth and fifth time with the same results and was now laughing as the camera flashed while I rolled past at a snail's pace.

Two weeks later, I got five tickets in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

You know, you just can't fix stupid.

My Day

Today is Friday.

Today I have an appointment to have my hair cut. That appointment is at 12:30 in the afternoon.

Guess what? I'm totally leaving my house as soon as I'm ready.

A day for me! (And possibly Sister-in-Law, if she decides to join me.)

What will I be doing? I have no idea but I'm going anyway!

Maybe I'll do some shopping. Most likely window shopping but it'll still be fun. I'll go try on clothes at Cato. Check out fun crafty stuff at Hobby Lobby. Get some more "Rock Candy" Bling Hand Sanitizer from Bath and Body Works because that stuff smells SO good!

Then I'll go get my hair cut. If I like the way it looks maybe I'll go to Dollar Tree or the book store before I go home. (I say if I like the way it looks because I often leave a hair place hating the way they style it. I don't mind it when I can do it myself but I never like the way they do it.) Oh, I'll just take my hat! Problem solved!

Just thinking about today is making me happy.

If I like my cut I'll probably share a picture . . . OK, maybe.

I'm outta here! Have a great day!

HGotW: Ian Somerhalder

I checked . . . The last time I did a HGotW post was in July . . . I think that's long enough to go without a Hot Guy on my blog.

This weeks Hot Guy I didn't even know about in July. I was a member of a social networking site and someone would post his picture over and over and I would think. "Oh wow, He is so HOT." He was in a TV show that I never watched (because I figured it would be silly) but you can only see this guys picture so many times before you have to check out his show.

So, I gave in. One night the show that I normally watched in that time slot was a rerun so I turned on his show and let it play in the background. I was hooked. I immediately found the episodes online and caught up on the whole show. Good thing it was only in it's first season! I'm now a faithful viewer and it's not at all silly as I had suspected.

Also, I fell in love with this week's Hot Guy's character immediately. Sure, he's a bad boy but so what? He is one of my two favorite characters. Guess what? I'm also going to feature the actress that plays my other favorite character as this weeks "Hot Girl."

Without further ado I give you . . .

Ian Somerhalder

Pretty, No?

He recently launched The Ian Somerhalder Foundation in an effort to help the environment and furry domestic creatures without homes. (Stray animals. Hehe) If either of those things appeal to you then you should really click the link and check it out.

Moving on to our featured female . . .

Candice Accola

Thanks for taking some time to drop by. Hope to see you around!
