Random Tuesday Thoughts

I'm a random rebel! Come play Random Tuesday Thoughts, currently being hosted by Stacy (While Keely contemplates her life choices), with us! Grab the icon and join the fun! You won't regret it!

Stacy

1. A new series premiered on Animal Planet last night called Finding Bigfoot. Do you believe in Big Foot?

2. Assuming you believe (or maybe you still don't) have you ever SEEN a big foot? Or an alien? Or a sea creature? Or any other odd cryptid sort of creatures?

3. Pinterest. I love it!

4. Ghost Hunters comes back tomorrow night. That's fun all by itself but Josh Gates will be on tomorrow's episode. Yay! I love Josh Gates! He makes me laugh and he's a cutie. Win/win.

5. Today's random sucks. Haha, sorry.

6. While we were at MiL's last week J wanted to see a movie and he picked Priest. So J, BiL and I went to see Priest. Dumb! Don't waste your money. The only thing good about this movie was Paul Bettany and Karl Urban. It really had a lot of potential that was just ignored. Very little story/character development. I did giggle when I saw Stephen Moyer playing the brother of the vampire hunter.

7. During the trailers at the beginning of Priest there was a trailer for Fright Night. Oh my word does that look dumb! Like it doesn't know if it wants to be a thriller or a vampire movie. Anyway, there's a part where the kid says "What kind of a vampire name is Jerry?" I laughed and leaned over to J and said "That's like the guy on True Blood. He's Bill the vampire." Then, what do you know Stephen Moyer was on screen. I was like "It's Bill the vampire!!"

8. Recently I've begun to check my Facebook profile every now and then to make sure that there are no links or pages that I didn't purposefully post. I found one the other day! Grrr

9. I love Netflix streaming! I love that new shows are being added all the time! Netflix is my friend during the Summer. I have a couple series on my watch list that I'm going to try to get too soon.

I think I'm done now. Eh, who knows? Maybe I'll add more later! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

P.S. I apologize for the lack of quality random. I fail today.

Driving in Circles

Last week we spent a couple days at MiL's house. J had two days off in a row so we decided to go visit.

Wednesday night J and BiL decided they wanted to go do something. I also wanted to hit a few stores so we decided that I would drop them wherever they wanted to go and I would take the car and shop.

After I dropped them off SiL showed up where they were and they got a ride home from her. Which left me to finish up my shopping and head back to MiL's. Sound simple, right?

We used to live there, were I was driving around. However, we haven't lived there in a Years and since we left they've been attempting to improve the roads. (SO not an improvement yet!!!!) There is construction EVERYWHERE!!! The roads are all turned around and closed with detours EVERYWHERE!

I was already in an awful, don't mess with me if you value your existence mood a sort of cranky mood. It was so late when we finally got to the shopping area I didn't get to go to the mall. All I did was hit Target. (Where I bough a Hershey bar, inhaled it and wished I would have bought two.) I did get a season of How I Met Your Mother for $12.99 so that was nice.

Since it was so late and everything was closed by the time I left Target it was time to go back to MiL's. I got a bit worried because I realized the construction was everywhere and I might not know how to get back.

I started going the way I knew, only to run into construction. I panicked thinking I had gone the wrong way and was going to have to go 30 minutes out of my way to get back on the correct highway. However, it turned out there was a little turn around right in front of me. I took it. I felt better now heading back the way I knew was right. Then, More construction! I drove right past my exit. There was no warning that it was coming. Just the exit and THEN the sign. By the time I realized I missed it I was WAY far past it. So I got BACK on the original road that I thought was going to take me miles outside of town and used that little turn around again.

Back into more construction. I was trying to watch for the exit this time. Again, WHY is there NO WARNING??? Why is there and exit and THEN the sign??? Do I even have to tell you that I missed it again???

Back around to the first area of construction, back around the little turn around, back into the other construction. By this time I was sooooo upset I was in tears, trying to drive. It didn't help that it was dark either.

This time I drove about 30 mph through that second batch of construction to make sure I didn't miss that stupid (yes, I said stupid) little exit.

I eventually made it back to MiL's. What night!

Coupons!

Yesterday my post was crazy long with all the weather stuff. So, I decided to move the shopping stuff to another day.

Sunday I bought a newspaper and clipped coupons. It was a first for me. I figured I would give it a try and see what happens. It couldn't hurt. So, I did!

Because this was my first time "couponing," to be honest, I was a bit nervous. I was going to Walgreens and I'd read some crazy stuff about Walgreens (grouchy people, grouchy machines, confusing coupon policies). However, it all went very smoothly and I can't wait until next week!

I used manufacturer's coupons, Walgreens coupons and register rewards and this is what I got:

When priced normally with no sales this bunch of stuff would be between $17 and $20. I paid $8. I'm pretty happy with that! Oh! I also bough a Diet Coke to drink so that was included too.

It's only a little bunch of stuff but it was my first time and I was happy! Also, combos are yum and the Kiddo finally got the Tic Tac's he's been asking me for for a week!

I stopped at a few more stores but didn't use coupons. I'm trying to ease myself in, one store at a time.

I did get some good deals at Dollar Tree though!

Do you use coupons? Do you find it a hassle or helpful? I really enjoyed my first experience, I'll be doing this again!

WHAT A DAY!

So, yesterday . . .

Was yesterday ever an eventful day! Wow!

Yesterday morning when I turned on TweetDeck I was greeted by a great surprise! I won I Am Not Superwoman's Skoy Cloth Giveaway!! I was so excited! I wanted those things So bad! They look really neat and I can't Wait to try them! (Thank you so much I Am Not Superwoman, for hosting a great giveaway!)

Then, I took the coupons that I clipped from Sunday's paper, the knowledge I'd gained from the internet and my shopping list and headed to Walgreens. (More on this tomorrow.)

After all the shopping I came home, J went to work and I did dishes and laundry and cleaned up a bit. During all this housework I kept my eye on the TV. The storms in Oklahoma City yesterday were just Awful. And later on they had moved into Dallas. They were getting closer.

My MiL and SiL showed up around 7 pm or so. They were dropping J's cousin off at her home and were planning on just stopping in to say hello and continuing to their home however the weather had other plans.

It had been pretty mild here, no storms, just some patchy clouds and a breeze most of the day. The weather did say that we would be getting a thunderstorm but they didn't say anything about weather warnings.

Not until about 8 or so. Then the weather report changed to "Tornado Watch." I still wasn't very worried. You see, everytime we have a storm here we're under at tornado watch. It's normal.

We continued to watch the weather reports. Dallas was getting worse and the radar was tracking right to us. Soon the sky was Lighting up and the thunder was rolling. Then, the "Tornado Watch" turned into a "Tornado Warning." We don't get a lot of those.

I watched the radar and after all the storms all day I was getting a little nervous. We do not have a basement. The only place we can go during a storm is pretty much the middle of the apartment.

Finally we called the police station and asked about tornado shelter. He told us the courthouse was open for a shelter so we quickly piled in the car and headed there.

When I told my MiL that I had called the police station and he told us to go to the courthouse she went into hyperdrive mode. "OK, let's go!" SiL started freaking out and flying around grabbing her things and running out the door. They freaked the poor Kiddo out and he was crying "Mommy!" I felt so bad for him. I remained calm though.

I kind of thought we They might be overreacting and we probably would be safe at our place but better safe than sorry I suppose.

Anyway, we went to the courthouse and sat (Bored) until the storm passed. Turns out we would have been safe at home. I wish I would have stayed at home. Haha.

I'm just VERY thankful everyone was safe and we didn't have to deal with a tornado. (That I know of, actually I'm not sure if one touched down near us or not.)

Before all the tornado stuff I was on Facebook and found that my friend had posted on my wall saying "You won something from Forever Folding Laundry too!"

Well, because I had been shopping and cleaning and doing laundry all day I hadn't made it to read any blogs and had no idea! So I ran clicked over there and sure enough! I won a Very cool Q&A journal! (Thank you, Keri! I can't wait for the journal! Fun!)

And after ALL that I collapsed into my bed and went right to sleep!

Haha, Sorry this post has been so long! It was originally longer but I moved some to tomorrow! You're welcome!

P.S. Today is Towel Day! Happy Towel Day! Always remember your towel and DON'T PANIC!!

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

I'm linking up with the other Random Tuesday Rebels over at Stacy's place! If you want to check it out than grab the Random Rebel box and join us!

randomtuesday

1. Skipped TKD last night because my instructor hurt her arm and she wasn't there. Her Husband was filling in for her. I'm not a fan of his teaching. He sort of makes me nervous. Also, he tends to assume we know a lot more than we do. (Or at least than I do.) Anyway, I hope she's better SOON!!

2. My Mom called me last night to tell me that she was in her basement because of tornado warnings there. She lives where they NEVER have tornadoes. There's too many mountains around there for tornadoes. So weird!

3. Today I plan to have some me time. J doesn't go to work until 3 this afternoon. So, this morning I'm going to do some shopping. Maybe I'll get some breakfast or a "designer" coffee. Who knows!

4. I tried Greek Yogurt for the first time last night. The texture is like sour cream. Every time I dug my spoon into it I though "sour cream" which made it taste off when I put it in my mouth and it was sweet. I can't explain it but I don't like it. I think too much to be able to enjoy Greek yogurt.

5. I mentioned I'm going shopping today. I didn't mention I'm going to Walgreens to try out some coupons! It's my first time and I'm a little nervous. I'm hoping it all goes smoothly and I score myself some deals!

6. You want Random? I've got random. How's this? I LOVE Sean Bean!

7. I think we're going to MiL's tomorrow to hang out. J has off Wednesday and Thursday so we're going to visit. What's really amusing is that MiL is coming Here today to drop J's cousin off. She lives right down the road and has been spending a few days at MiL's house. I guess we'll be traveling to her place caravan style.

8. I must go shop now. Coupons, Coffee, Gasoline! I'm going to spend some money! (Not all of this spending will make me happy though.) Where's that Coffee????

Homemade Hot Pockets!

I went on an internet search the other day for a recipe for homemade hot pockets. I've been trying to find some things that I can make and freeze so when someone needs a snack they can just toss it in the microwave and enjoy.

I found a recipe that looked good at a blog called Chickens in the Road.

I made them Saturday night! I Love Them!

I made the dough and waited (im)patiently until it rose. Then I rolled it out and started filling the pockets!

I filled some of them with some leftover cubed ham that I had and cheddar cheese. A couple others I put in some shaved Turkey and cheese. Most of them are Pepperoni, cheese and pizza sauce. I made most of them Pizza because those are the ones J will like (eat).

I rolled out the dough, cut it into six parts and started filling them.

The recipe actually made 18 hot pockets.

After you put the filling on you just stretched the dough over top and pinched it closed. Then when you flipped it over it looked nice and neat.

Into the oven for twenty minutes and they came out looking good enough to eat!!!

I couldn't wait to try them! I waited . . . not so patiently, until I could taste them. I grabbed and ham and cheese one.

So Good! I'm so glad I have so many to snack on!

If you want to try them the recipe link is Right Here! Get Cooking!

Prayer Works

Before we went to Pennsylvania my Dad's truck broke down.

It was a real bummer while we were there because we didn't always have a way to get around. (Which led to him renting a car, which led to us leaving the Kiddo's Leapster Explorer in the rental car, which led to the Explorer being stolen, which led to a VERY cranky Mommy and a very sad Kiddo.)

So the Kiddo and I started praying that Grandpa would find a vehicle. Well, a few days ago my Dad called me to tell me he was on the way to Michigan to pick up a truck that he bought.

Fast forward to Wednesday night. We were in the car on the way to church and J's cousin was with us. She was in the back seat with the Kiddo and he was going on and on about our trip to Pennsylvania.

He said "Grandpa used to have a red truck but then it broke. But then Jesus sent him a black truck!"

It was so sweet to hear him give the credit to God. After all, we were praying that God would provide a truck for Grandpa.

Fast forward to Thursday around three o'clock. My phone rings. My Dad is on the other end. He said "Please pray. Mars is missing." (Mars is my Dad's dog.)

I asked what happened and he said that the fence was down in the back and he just got out and apparently ran away. Dad also pointed out that not only was it storming (something that scares my Dad's HUGE DOBERMAN, he's such a baby.) but it was also rush hour.

My Dad lives on a VERY busy hill with cars and trucks flying up and down (once a drunk driver was driving down the hill my Dad lives on. He ran off the road, hit a bank and went airborne, landing half on the roof of my Dad's house before falling off.) at crazy speeds.

Anyway, he asked that we pray that Mars would be safe, first, and then that he would be found.

When I hung up the phone I went right to the Kiddo's room. I explained that the dog was missing. Then I asked what happened when we prayed for Grandpa to get a truck and the Kiddo responded that he got a truck. So I asked "What do you think we should do about Mars?"

The Kiddo suggested we pray. So, he sat in my lap and we prayed that Mars would be safe and Grandpa would find him. Then, I came back into the living room.

About six minutes later (no joke) my phone rang. My Dad said "I should have called you first!"

I said "You found him?" And he confirmed that he had, in fact, found the dog! I was so glad!

I'm so thankful, not only that I know that God answers prayer but that my Kiddo also knows. :)

We Have A Winner!!!

Once upon a time there was a Giveaway.

The prize was a cute little collection of Bath and Body Works Pocket Sized Hand Sanitizer.

People came from all over the land to enter this little giveaway. Although, the turn out was still pretty low. This is what they were all trying to win:

They followed a blog, they followed a twitter, they tweeted about the little Giveaway and they blogged about the little giveaway. All in an effort to be chosen to receive the prize.

Then, one day someone came along and compiled a list of all those who entered. It looked like this:

After the list was compiled a trip was made. A trip to a Kingdom called Random.org.

At Random.org there is a magic box that predicts winners! The numbers 1 and 39 were entered into the magic box.

With one more keystroke the magic box of Random.org would reveal the winner of the giveaway.

A hush fell over the crowd as she reached out and touched the key . . .

 . . . . . . .
 . . . . . . .
 . . . . . . .

The magic number was TWENTY-ONE! The messenger ran back to the kingdom of Coffee and Chocolate to announce the winner!

MrsScorziello

Congratulations, MrsScorziello! I hope you enjoy your prize!

And Thank You to Everyone who entered! I had a lot of fun doing this and I hope to do another one again in the future! (Maybe at 100 followers?) Good luck to you all in your future giveaway entries!!

p.s. I was not compensated in anyway to review or giveaway these products. I just did it for fun!

1. I was supposed to take J's cousin to school this morning. I got up early, left my warm and comfy bed, climbed in the truck, drove to her house, knocked on her door . . . Nothing. I called her Mom (who had a doctor's appointment) and guess what! She wasn't even home! They didn't need me and forgot to call me! Oh well, I got doughnuts!

2. Cream Cheese Filled Doughnuts. Yum.

3. If you entered my Little Giveaway then you should watch this space tomorrow to see if you won!

4. I thought I would sit down and have tons of things to say. Turns out, I was wrong.

5. Summer. I don't like it. It's already been Hot around here and it's only going to get hotter.

6. Do you have Kiddos? Do you/Did you/Do you plan to send them to Pre-School? I wrote a post about Pre-School and how I'm sort of (a Lot) lost and don't know what to do! Advice is very welcome!

7. Check out/Follow this blog: The Save At Home Mom. It's quality. She's a thrifty, crafty, healthy Mommy to an adorable little girl and is expecting a little boy! I was after her for a while to start a blog and she finally did. I knew she would be good at it! It's one of my favorite blogs and I've already learned a bunch from her! She's new and only have 9 followers and she's better than 9 followers! Have a look!

8. I love season finales/May sweeps. All the shows pulling out all the stops! I hate that I have to wait months to see what happens sometimes though! My favorite season finale's so far have been The Vampire Diaries (Yes I watch it and I like it VERY much!) and Castle. However, I'm still waiting for the NCIS and Bones' finales!

I suppose that's all for now. Have a great day everyone!

To Pre-School or Not To Pre-School

Agh! Help! WHEN did my Kiddo get this old? (Actually if he was born three weeks earlier he could go to Kindergarten this year. *Sigh*)

I am currently sitting here with a Pre-School application in front of me and I'm stressing.

I would just forget about pre-school altogether (I never went and I turned out OK) but I know my Kiddo. I know that he needs to get a feel for some classroom structure before he heads to Kindergarten and begins to terrorize his teachers.

I did find one Pre-school that I would Love for him to be able to attend but it's really expensive and we just can't do it. Not even close.

What I really didn't want was a five day schedule. I would much rather him go for just a couple days a week. I mean the Kid's going to be in school for a LONG time! Why add an extra year? But, the only places I can find around here (My town is pathetic!) are five days a week.

We went in to pick up an application the other day and he got very excited when he saw all the kids. He's been asking to go to Pre-school ever since.

So now, here I sit filling out this application and not really feeling peace about but not really knowing What else to do!

Mommies! I need your help! Pre-school success stories? Pre-school failure stories? Yea and Nay votes for Pre-school.

P.S. I feel very disconnected and as though I've been rambling. I apologize for that.

Giveaways at I AM NOT SUPERWOMAN and Mama Chocolate!

Blogger is playing nice again! Yay!

I follow this blog: I AM NOT SUPERWOMAN

I popped by her blog the other day and found this giveaway: Skoy Cloth Giveaway

Those things look SO COOL! I want!

A while back I decided to do away with using paper products when possible. We no longer use paper plates, plastic cups, plastic utensils, paper towels or napkins. (Unless we're having a party, I'm not insane.) I talked about it in this post.

We've saved a bunch of money and a bunch of trash around here! I'm loving it!

Anyway, when I saw that giveaway and read a bit about Skoy Cloths I immediately wanted them! I took a look at their Facebook page and hit "Like." (Did I mention I think these things look really neat and I would Love to try them?)

While I was on their Facebook page I found a link to yet another Skoy cloth giveaway over at Mama Chocolate. Another chance to win these cloths? Yes, please!

So, I've just given you two places to enter to win what looks like a very cool item. Have a look for yourself, I think you might be interested!

Once again. Skoy Cloth Giveaways at I AM NOT SUPERWOMAN and Mama Chocolate! Go! Run! Read! Enter! Good luck!

The Nap

The other day I tried to take a nap. It went something like this:

I go to my bedroom and lay down. I'm cold but my bed is made and I don't want to unmake it. So I go get a throw from the living room. Then, back to my bedroom.

Kiddo: Mom, my TV won't work.

I go fix the unruly TV then I go back to my bed.

A few minutes pass.

Kiddo: Mom!

J: Mom is trying to sleep.

I close my eyes.

Kiddo: Mom! I want a pop tart.

I go get the Kiddo a snack and lay back down.

A loud CRASH from the other room!

I jump out of bed and run to the dining room. Broken (plastic) vase on the floor. Pieces and water all over. J cleans up pieces I clean up water.

I go back to my room and lay down.

Kiddo comes in and lays down next to me.

Me: If you're going to lay here you must be still.

 Kiddo: OK

A very few minutes pass.

Kiddo (Whispering): I have to go potty.

Me: Well, then go potty.

Kiddo goes potty and comes back.

Me: Now be still, OK?

Kiddo: OK

A few more minutes pass.

Kiddo: I have to go poo poo.

*SIGH*

Me: Well, then go.

Kiddo goes potty once again.

Kiddo: Mommy, I need your help.

I go to help the Kiddo and then we both go to lay back down.

Minutes pass.

Kiddo: I want to hug Daddy.

Me: Then go hug Daddy but don't come back in here I'm trying to sleep. If you want to lay here hug Daddy when we get up.

Kiddo goes to hug Daddy.

An alarm on Rupert begins to sound.

J: Your phone is ringing.

I, thinking my phone is ringing, make it to the living room in time for the Kiddo to turn the alarm off.

I go back and lay down.

I look at the clock.

A few minutes pass.

I get up.

Such a restful nap!

1. Due to a low number of entries I've extended the time to enter my giveaway until May 16th! Check it out HERE (Giveaway)!!

2. I felt guilty for making people follow me in order to enter. *Sigh* I'm pathetic. Anyway, following me is no longer mandatory to enter the Giveaway but that doesn't mean you can't! I'm always accepting new followers!

3. If you read my post the other day about the surprise I found when I returned from my vacation I just want to mention that I've been apologized too and they were really only trying to help.

4. Our living room has been rearranged a bit. Not much though basically we just moved a chair and a book case. Everything else is the same as it was before. I sort of like the book case in it's new spot. Still getting used to the chair though.

5. Wish List: New Area Rug for the living room. New bathroom decor. I love the bathroom stuff I have now but I've had it for a While and I think it's time for a change.

6. Men, shield your eyes. Ladies, I found a great app! Period Tracker! I don't usually get quite this personal on here but this thing is great! I love it! Check it out! You can buy the deluxe version which I think is $1.99 or the Lite version which is free. I find it very useful! I shall now end this very personal commercial.

7. I love Danny Kaye. That's basically all. (Hey, you said Random.)

8. I have The. Greatest. Sheets. Ever. on my bed. I wish I could find them again to buy another set. I've found some that are very close. I just need to get back to the store and buy them!

9. I just pounded out a whole lot of random and I could probably dig up some more. Maybe I should stop here and save the rest for next week?

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you lovely Mom's out there! Did all your dreams and wishes come true?

I had a pretty uneventful day. We went to church this morning and then grabbed KFC for dinner so this Mom didn't have to cook. (FYI: The new[ish] grilled chicken at KFC isn't that great. Original recipe is still the best.)

I was reading our church's bulletin this morning and there was a fun little thing in there and I thought I would share it here.

Things Mom Would Never Say

1. "How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back?"

2. "Yeah, I used to skips school a lot too."

3. "Just leave all the lights on, it makes the house look more cheery."

4. "Let me smell that shirt. Yeah, it's good for another week."

5. Go ahead and keep that stray dog, honey. I'll be glad to feed and walk him every day."

6. "Well, if Nick's Mom says it's OK then that's good enough for me!"

7. "The curfew is just a general time to shoot for. It's not like I'm running a prison or anything."

8. "I don't have a tissue with me, just use your sleeve."

9. "Don't bother wearing a jacket. The wind chill is bound to improve."

Happy Mother's Day!!

Coming . . . Home?

I walked in my front door last night after being away visiting family for about three and a half weeks. This was at about Two o'clock this morning. If you saw my Twitter post it went something like this: FINALLY HOME. And also #AreYouKiddingMe and #NotCool.

The first week I was in PA J was with us and we had a house sitter.

This house sitter was very nice and Spring cleaned my house. It was very nice of them.

Also, they rearranged my house. Not as nice. I'm so very upset. EVERYTHING is moved to different places.

My living room, the Kiddo's room, my kitchen cabinets. Things are not where I left them. I don't know where they've gone. The Kiddo is upset because he can't find some of his things either.

I'm just dumbfounded. I really really do appreciate the wonderful cleaning but it's sort of not cool to rearrange someone elses life while they're away.

This is the nicest I could muster for this post because I really am upset.

Now, I want to put my place back the way it used to be. However, there is One Thing that J likes and I don't know HOW to leave it where it is without leaving it ALL this way and and I just want it back!

I was supposed to come home from vacation to my house and instead it's like I'm in someone else's house. I'm glad to be home but I'm in an awful mood. *Sigh*

I need coffee and chocolate and some more coffee and chocolate.

Silly Sunday - Ever Wonder?

For people who think to much (like myself) here are some things for you to ponder. :)

EVER
WONDER ....

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery?

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
