Once upon a time I started writing a book. I had done loads of research. There were tons of articles and web pages and such saved on my computer. I was reading all the time and was extremely excited about my project.
Then I took a vacation to Pennsylvania to see my family. When I arrived at home I was greeted with an awful fact. My computer had crashed. All my research, all my saved files, everything that I had written was gone. (Not just the book, everything I'd ever written, ever, was gone.)
Yesterday I started thinking about my book again. (I usually tried not to think of everything that I'd lost.) I would really love to continue my book and finish it. How nice it would be if I had a flawless, photographic memory.
Maybe one day I'll finish (or start over) my book.

How sad, to lose all that work. And especially work for a book - that's about as personal as it gets except maybe for photos.
Would you still do the same story? I wonder how the past few years have changed your perspective.
My condolences to you on the loss of your book. I so would have cried for months and months. I've tried to back up most of my book and writing, but you never know what could happen.
