Yesterday I baked chocolate chip cookies and Peanut Butter Melties (Also cookies).
Have you ever seen a recipe that just looks so good and you have to try it? I was craving peanut butter cookies and found the recipe for Peanut Butter Melties. The ingredients and process both looked simple and the picture looked really good.
I proceeded to try them. It occured to me that this was a strange recipe for peanut butter cookies because it didn't include any brown sugar. However, I just kept on cooking.
Also, I'm a devout JIF peanut butter fan but I decided that since the peanut butter was going into cookies I would grab a slightly cheaper jar and try to save some pennies (I'm like that). So, I bought Peter Pan peanut butter for the cookies.
ICK! Maybe I've just become too accustomed to JIF or maybe Peter Pan changed their recipe but that stuff is really gross and I don't know how my Dad eats it!
Anyway, I finished the cookies, let them cool and couldn't wait to try one. I popped it into my mouth and . . . Well, let me just say they're okay cookies I suppose but they're NOT peanut butter cookies! (I mean they are but they don't taste like the classic peanut butter cookies that I was hoping for.)
Do you think it could be blamed on the brand of peanut butter I used? I've learned my lessons. JIF from now on!

It is probably not the brand, but then again maybe your senses are so highly tuned that nothing but JIF is acceptable. It wouldn't bother me though.
