HGotW: David Cook

It's Thursday and HGotW is back! I'm sorry I haven't been around as much as I used to be. However, I do have to say that the pressure if OFF and now I can just post when I feel the urge. I like it this way.

This weeks Hot Guy is awesome! This guy can sing! I mean, he has got a massively fantastic voice! I like to listen to the words of songs when I'm listening to musuc but there are certain singers that just have voices that captivate me. When the song is over I find that I've concentrated so hard on the voice that I missed what the song was about. (A good excuse to go back and listen again.) Today's HGotW falls into that catergory.

I fell in love with him when he was on American Idol (the last real season I watched) and I'm still loving him. I have his CD and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for another one!

I give you, this weeks HGotW . . .

David Cook

It must be music week on my blog because the girl I've chosen for today is also part of the music industry.

I'm a fan of this girl for a few reasons. I really enjoy her voice and her music. (Even though country is rarely my thing.) I also think (though I don't know her personally) that she might be a better choice of a role model for young girls today than say . . . Miley Cyrus?

It just seems to me that I've never seen this girl do half naked photo shoots or pole dance. So, right there, she already gets points from me. If I had a daughter I would much rather my daugther be a fan of this young lady than of Miley Cyrus. (But, that's just me.)

The young lady I've chosen for today is . . .

Taylor Swift

And she's beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed yourself! Have a wonderful day! Go listen to some David Cook or Taylor Swift.

Casino Chips? Really?

I came across this piece of information and thought I would pass it on.

This may come as a surprise, but there are more Catholic churches in Vegas than Casinos.

Not suprisingly, some worshippers at Sunday services will give Casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed.

Since they get chips from many different Casinos, the churches have combined to devise a way to collect the offerings.

The different churches send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan Monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in.

This is done by CHIP MONKS!!!!

You didn't even see it coming, did you!?

Have a great day!

Don't Obsess

I just realized that for the past two weeks there has been nothing posted here for Thursday's weekly Hot Guy post.

Check next week. I'll try to do better.

While I'm kind of unhappy with myself for the lack of blogging. I also feel kind of liberated (That's not the right word but I can't think of a different way to put it right now) from the pressure of having to post everyday.

I was feeling OCDish about the daily posts and then when I totally forgot a couple days that OCD feeling went away. I suppose I figured I'd already ruined it so why obsess? I still love my blog and I still write things I'm just not obbsessing about it anymore. This I like.

So, I'm still around. Hope you all have a great day!

My Pink Towel

I have a favorite towel. It's HUGE and hot pink and it's well used but it's soft. I got it from my Mommy a Bunch of years ago well before I was ever married.

There's no sentimental value or anything like that. It's just a very large, soft, comfy towel.

When I take a shower I like to have my towel. Then I wash it and put it back in the closet for next time. I love my pink towel.

I love my husband. Sometimes he drives me nuts, of course, but isn't that normal? But, sometimes there are those little things that just make me smile.

Yesterday J got up and took a shower and later he and the Kiddo went to the movies. While they were gone I decided to take a shower.

I opened the closet to get a towel and there was my pink towel, sort of disheveled on the top of the stack of folded towels.

Do you know why it was disheveled? Because when J took his shower he saw that my pink towel was on top of the stack and he grabbed the one underneath it, causing my towel to end up in a ball on top.

I know it's a silly little thing but the fact that he thought about me when he grabbed his towel puts a smile on my face. He knew that the pink one was my favorite and instead of grabbing the towel on top he left it there for me and grabbed the next one.

Love him!

Six Word Saturday!

It's Saturday! Time for Six Word Saturday! If you would like to play along clicky the little box and Cate will tell you how it's done! Have fun!

Having some blog related memory problems.

While I was away I had a bunch of posts scheduled to publish automatically. Now that I'm back I'm forgetting to blog because I didn't have to for so long. *Sigh* Bad me. I'll try to get back on track.

WHAT?!!?

This is what happens when you set your blog to post automatically for 19 days . . .

You TOTALLY and COMPLETELY forget to post ANYTHING for almost THREE days!

I have some pictures and some stories from our trip to Pennsylvania. We went to the Philadelphia Zoo and Washington D.C. while we were there and it was tons of fun.

Hopefully I'll get my act together and get some things posted! I cannot believe I missed two days! So sad . . .

Travel Day

Today's post is going to be a short one.

I didn't realize that I didn't have one scheduled for today.

We're headed home to Oklahoma. Our flight doesn't leave until this evening so we have lots of time.

We had a wonderful breakfast with some family. It was tasty and the company was nice (without any attitudes. Which might be near a miracle considering some of the guests.)

Now it's time to pack up our bags and wait to head to the airport.

If you pray, please pray we'll have a safe trip, we'll appreciate it! Thanks!

Have a great Monday!

Your Age by Chocolate Math

I got this in an e-mail and thought it was a bit of fun so I decided to share.

Your Age By Chocolate Math

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute .

Work this out as you read .

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

1. First pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1760 . . . If you haven't, add 1759.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number. The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are . . . Your age!

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2010) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

Hope you enjoyed this little game. Have a great day!

I Love it when the Kiddo Shares

The other day I was in the shower when I heard a little voice outside the bathroom door.

Kiddo: Mom!

Me: What, Baby?

Kiddo: Do you want toys to play with in the bath?

Me: No thanks, Baby. I'm good!

I'm pretty sure he was going to give me his dinosaurs if I would have said yes. He makes me smile so much. Haha.

HGotW: Misha Collins

I haven't really seen this weeks Hot Guy of the Week around a whole lot. I'd seen him before two or three times but I really noticed him when he showed up on Supernatural (Yes, I'm telling you. There are a lot of pretty people on that show!)

Honestly, when he first showed up on Supernatural I was not a fan. But when I say that I mean that I wasn't a fan of his character. He still qualified as a hot guy.

I've seen some interviews and some videos from conventions since then and he seems like a pretty funny guy. And those eyes . . .

I hope you agree that he fits right in around here. This weeks HGotW . . .

Misha Collins

*Like*

MMMmmm Come on people, look at those eyes (and lips)! :)
(And yes, it's possible that this pic is, in fact, my wallpaper on my laptop.)

The lady I chose for this week is very beautiful and very talented. I've enjoyed seeing her in everything that I've seen her in so far (haha, what a strange sentence). She's also the female lead in the highest grossing movie of all time, Avatar. (Which I haven't seen yet but J assures me is worthy of the hype.)

Zoe Saldana

Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful Thursday!!

Check out Misha on Supernatural tonight on the CW!

The Sitter

I recently became a fan on Facebook of "As a Kid I Used to Jump From Couch to Couch To Avoid the Lava & Quicksand"

I laughed because when I read that it took me back to one specific memory from childhood.

My Dad was in a business every tuesday night they had a meeting. My Aunt was also in this group with him so that left myself and my two cousins with a sitter on those nights.

Our sitter was named Sam and I'm not sure how old she was. I know that to me she seemed very grown up to me but that's because I was a little kid. But now, looking back, I would wager that she wasn't that grown up.

You see we were playing some sort of game. We had our pretend guns out and we were climbing on the furniture and jumping from sofa to sofa in order to avoid . . . Well, I'm not sure what we were avoiding but it was something on the floor!

And when I saw "we" I'm referring to myself, my two cousins and our sitter, Sam. Yup, All of us, jumping from couch to couch to avoid the lava!

The First Book I Ever Read

Do you remember the first book you ever read? I'm not talking like a Dr. Suess kind of book. I mean the first big book with full chapters that you ever read?

I remember the first one I ever read was a Star Trek Voyager Book (I've told you before that I'm a geek). It was called The Escape. I was twelve years old.

I was at the mall with my Grandfather and there was (I think it's even still there . . . well, maybe) a little comic book shop that I used to love to go in. I was never a fan of comic books but they also had all the Star Trek stuff. You know, the figures and the phasers and the tricorders and all those fun things. Anyway I went in to look around and I saw the book just lying there on the shelf.

I picked it up and read the back and for reason I wanted it. I put it down and ran out to my Grandfather who was waiting for me on a bench outside the store. I remember asking him if he would buy me the book.

He was so sweet (and fond of spoiling). He gave me the money and I ran in and bought it. I showed it to him when I came out. He seemed suprised at the size and asked if I was actually going to read it. I assured him I would. And I did.

It was a very well written book. I can't remember the exact plot (after all I was twelve when I read it) but I can still remember scenes from it. I love when I read a book and I can see it all happening in my head like I'm watching a movie.

I still have the book. Maybe one day I'll have to dig it out and read it again just for old times sake.

Do you remember the first book you read?

Dream Land

J used to talk about a recurring dream that he had every year at about the same time. Something about a dog . . . I can't remember the details.

Anyway, I thought about that. I was thinking, I don't think I've ever had a recurring dream.

Then it hit me. I have had a recurring dream. However, it wasn't always the exact same dream. Like it happened in different place but always the same thing happened.

My teeth fell out! All of them!

I would be at my Gram's house or somewhere and all of a sudden one of my teeth would feel lose. I would run to the bathroom and look in the mirror and then it would fall out! I would panic and wish and hope that it were just a dream.

Of course it was. Whew! I haven't had that dream in a while. I sure hope that just because I wrote about it doesn't mean it's going to come back to me!

Do you experience any recurring dreams? Creepy or just odd? I think any recurring dream would be odd.
