HGotW: Anthony Head

I missed it yesterday but I'm going to make up for it today! . . .

(New Bannerish kind of thing. I don't have any special programs. Hehe. Also, the guys on this banner are in no particular order. Except for Sean Bean. He's ALWAYS first.)

I discovered this weeks guy many years ago on a little show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Perhaps you've heard of it?

Sure Buffy had a number of guys that could be considered hot. As a matter of fact I've already featured on of them here (David Boreanaz). But while everyone was so busy swooning over Angel and Spike and even Xander I was in love with the librarian.

Anthony Stewart Head. I don't know what it is about him. I can't blame it on the accent (although that doesn't hurt) because James Marsters (Spike) had an accent, even if it was fake, too. (Not saying I don't think James Marsters is attractive. He is but he's not Anthony Head.) He's just awesome.

Since Buffy I've seen him around here and there (although not as often as I would like). Recently I've been happy to see him on my TV weekly once again. He stars in the BBC's version of Merlin that airs on the Syfy network. It's not a show I would have turned on without some help. However, since Tony Head was in it I decided to check it out and discovered that it's actually a pretty good show.

Anyway, I could go on and on but that's not why you're here. You've come for the good stuff! So, without any further ado, I give you . . .

Anthony Head
(It's BLUE! - Tony Head)

(Sigh)

The girl I've chosen for today I saw for the first time on Merlin. She's a beautiful Irish actress . . .

Katie McGrath

(As Morgana in Merlin. Such pretty costumes.)

And I leave you with all the pretty in one picutre.

Have a great day!!

Coffee Creamer

I ran out of coffee creamer yesterday.

I was sad. However, when J said he was going to Walmart I realized it wasn't so bad. I asked him if he would, please, pick me up some creamer.

I gave him very specific instructions on the kind I wanted. I was actually afraid I confused him.

Please get me INTERNATIONAL DELIGHT Hazelnut. DON'T get me Coffee Mate, the last time I had it made me sick. Make sure it's International Delight and please make sure it's not the sugar free stuff. Ok, so I need International Delight, Hazelnut, but NOT sugar free.

I was SURE I covered all my bases when explaining the kind of creamer I needed. So, off he went.

He returned home with creamer. International Delight, Hazelnut, Non-sugar free creamer . . . .

 . . . in single serve pouches.

I neglected to mention that he could find my creamer in the refrigerated section.

I don't use a little coffee cup for my iced coffee I use a large cup so this morning I filled up my Large cup and I think I added about four or five of those little pouches.

Oh well, at least I have creamer! Hehe. :)

Trek Expo - Part 3 William Shatner

Continuing my Trek Expo posts, I want to share some stories from those that spoke during the day.

William Shatner
It seemed that I heard things about him that implied he was stuck up or full of himself and such. So, while I thought it was neat that I was going to get to hear William Shatner I wasn't on the edge of my seat about it.

Now that I have heard him my opinion of him is totally changed. He seemed like a great guy and I didn't catch the stuck up/full of himself vibe at all. He even added an extra photo op and autograph session to his time so that everyone could get their pic and autograph. I thought that was nice of him. Especially since it must be strange putting your arm around strangers for pictures all day long. Weird.

When he got on stage he talked about how nice it was to be there and how it was even more nice because his Son-in-Law (Joel Gretsch, V) was also there and it was nice to spend some time with him, just the two of them.

He talked about how he was in Canada for the Olympics and someone came up to him and told him they had four tickets to the Canada/USA hockey match. These tickets were valued at $40,000 A PIECE! This guy was offering him $160,000 worth of tickets. He was very excited. The next day he was at dinner with his wife and daughters and Sons-in-law and grand kids (13 people total). He said he had to make an executive decision and decided that he and his wife and two sons-in-law would take the four tickets and go to the Hockey game.

Later his daughter pulled him aside and mentioned that his two grandsons would really love to go to the hockey game and shouldn't they get the chance. So, he changed his mind and instead of the two sons-in-law he gave the tickets to the grandsons. Also, his wife decided that she really didn't need to go and thought that Joel (son-in-law) would enjoy the ticket more. So now it was Bill, Joel and two Grandsons going to the game.

The next day they were rehearsing his part in the closing ceremony and the man with the tickets came up to him. "I have bad news." he said. "The tickets have been sold. We don't have them anymore."

He said to the man with(out) the tickets. "Look, I already told everyone about these tickets and I don't want to do the actor thing and say 'I'm not going on unless . . .' but I Need Four tickets to this game and I REALLY need Six!"

The guy told him he would see what he could do and later came and said that he could get him three tickets. He said he really didn't want to do the actor thing and say 'I'm not going on unless . . .' but I Need Four tickets to this game and I REALLY need Six!"

Although at $40,000 per ticket it was lucky he was getting three tickets so now  the two grandsons and Bill were going to the game. But he decided that if his wife could be so sweet he would be too and once again Joel was given a ticket. So, Joel and the two grandsons going to the game.

Anyway, to make a LONG story just a tad bit less long. They finally ended up with SIX tickets to the game. So the two grandsons, two sons-in-law and Bill and his wife got to go.

At this point Joel Gretsch joined him on stage to add his own little tidbit about the hockey tickets. When Joel first discovered he was going to receive a ticket he said he sent out about 100 text messages telling everyone he was going to the game. Then, of course, he had to send them all messages telling them that he wasn't really going because the tickets were going to the grandsons. But then Bill's wife offered him her ticket so he sent the message that said he was going again. However, then there were only three tickets and he wasn't going. But then Bill gave up his ticket and he was going. He got very tired of sending messages.

Trek Expo - Part 2

Yesterday I posted the first part of my Trek Expo experience. Today, part two.

So I walked up to his table and blew him away with my ridiculously impressive oppening line . . . A TWO Sylable "Hi." Yup, I'm smooth!

He said "Hi" and the proceeded to read my t-shirt. It said "Everybody Loves an Irish Girl." He said "Yup, it's true!" I smiled (dorkish, I'm SURE). I then proceeded to explain that I was there to see him and he wasn't even on the schedule. *Insert pouty face* I said you're not on stage today . . . and right here is where Mark Sheppard (and his "handler" woman) lied to me. "Oh yes I am!" he said "Yes, he is!" she said. "Oh really? You're not on the schedule." I said. "They printed those out wrong." She said, all bright and smiley (she really was sweet.) "Great!" I said.

Can't remember exactly what was said next but then I said "I love your work." He nodded and said "Thanks." Then I told him that Sterling is my favorite and asked if he would be back. He very enthusastically responded that oh yes, Sterling would be back. Then I said "But not this season?" No, not this season. *Sadness* Then "It was nice to meet you" and I ran away to hide walked away.

Later, I went back to the very nice lady at the info. booth to find out about the pictures. She sent me to the registration table. There I asked for a refund for my photo ticket since I was pretty sure I wasn't getting that picture. She felt awful and wanted to make sure I got my picture so she said "Come with me." I followed her back to Mark Sheppard's table where we talked to his "handler" (I keep calling her that, she was like his coordinator/liason kind of person). She said they were trying to work the ticket thing out. There was another lady there who also had a ticket for a photo with him. (Only two of us? Seriously? Do people not know who this guy is?)

Anyway, they discussed and decided that he could squeeze pictures with the two of us in at 6 PM, right when the place was shutting down.

So at six I went to stand "in line" (it was really just me and that other lady) for a photo. He finally showed up. (I got the impression through out the day that he has problems being where he is supposed to be on time. Hehe.) I walked into the little photo place and he was standing there waiting. He pointed to a mark on the floor and said "Stand right there, my darling." so I did. (Duh.) He put his arm around me, they snapped the pic and that was it. I said "Thanks so much for coming back here for us." He said "Sure." and that was it. It happened SO fast that I can hardly remember it at all! (This kind of makes me sad.)

Also, since it was so late I had to leave my name and information and they'll send me my picture. So, I haven't seen it yet. I hope it turned out well.

Thanks for reading. There will probably be one more part to the Trek Expo series. Since William Shatner and a few of the others told some fun stories that I'd like to remember here.

Trek Expo Trip - Part 1

Last Saturday J and I went to Tulsa for Trek Expo.

When I was younger I was a Massive Star Trek fan. I mean, I loved it! (I still like it and see it occasionally but nothing like when I was younger.) Something I Always wanted to do was go to a Star Trek Convention. They sounded like so very much fun. I never actually got to go to one though because of the cost (too much) and location (too far).

A couple months ago I found out that an actor that I'm a fan of, Mark Sheppard, was going to be in Tulsa at Trek Expo. I was immediately on a mission to get there. I went searching to see who else was going to be guests there. I needed someone to entice J to go. He's not a Trek fan like I am. I discovered that Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, V) was going to be there. J watches Both of her shows. Perfect! So I pitched him the idea and he was all for it.

First step was to purchase tickets to get in. Then with the next paycheck we purchased photo op tickets. One for him and Ms. Vandervoort and one for myself and Mr. Sheppard. I was excited. (And scared to death as well, I'm not very good at meeting people.)

Finally the day came. We woke up way too early and headed out. (the plus side of this early thing was a yummy McDonald's breakfast. Fast food breakfasts are sooo good!) When we arrived I took a look at the schedule (one more time, I'd looked online) and Mark Sheppard (the guy I had originally planned to see) was not on it at all. He wasn't scheduled to speak on stage and answer any questions and he was scheduled for photos either. This made me unhappy.

I went to the information desk to find out if I was going to be able to use the photo ticket (That I'd Paid for) that day since he wasn't on the schedule. She told me she had no idea and was having problems getting a hold of anyone who could tell her.

So, Hubby and I decided to go in and walk around. We walked through the door way and guess who I saw? Mark Sheppard. He was sitting ten feet away from me and talking to a bunch of people. Very cool. You would think I would have run over there and got in line. I mean, this is the guy I had come to meet. No way! Are you kidding?! I'm a wimp! I wandered around for a bit. Went back to the info. lady, she still didn't know anything. Finally I decided to just go straight to the source. I was standing there with J and I looked over and he was alone, no one else at his table so over I walked. Scared. To. Death.

This has turned into a rather long post and I think I shall continue on to part two tomorrow.

Happy Independence Day!!!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

Have a safe and Wonderful weekend!!!

The Star Spangled Banner
by Francis Scott Key
September 20, 1814

Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

The Power of Suggestion

A couple weeks ago I was in Sunday School and one of my girls mentioned that she was going home that afternoon to enjoy Stuffed Peppers (With Seeds, she made sure she emphasized that point.) for dinner.

That did it! That was all I needed to hear. I HAD to have stuffed peppers for dinner. We had talked about them too much and I could almost taste them.

On the way home from church the Kiddo and I stopped at Walmart and I bought some frozen stuffed peppers to bake for dinner. I would have made my own but I was too lazy tired for that. The frozen kind were still really good though. Wonderful stuffed pepper dinner (Although, no seeds).

Last Sunday while in Sunday School the same girl was talking about dinner and I said something about how I wasn't sure what I wanted to have and she said "Enchilada Casserole."

She did it again! I started thinking about Enchilada Casserole and I just HAD to have it. The Kiddo and I came home and found my recipe and then ran to Walmart to grab the couple ingredients I didn't have.

It was so yummy when it was all done.

I wonder what Paige will be having for dinner next Sunday?

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

I've been missing Random Tuesday for a long time. Today I thought I would hop back in. If you want to participate in Random Tuesday or, if you just want to read about it then click the awesomely random box below and pop over to Keely's blog!

randomtuesday

1. It's been so long since I've done Random Tuesday I'm not sure I remember how to be random . . . I think I'm off to a good start.

2. Our cable company was not nice to us. We didn't get the CW Network. I called once and asked about it and the lady had NO IDEA what that Network was, she had never heard of it or any of the shows I mentioned (90201, Smallville, Supernatural, Gossip Girl). Anyway, I e-mailed and asked if they planned to add it because I wanted to watch Supernatural and J likes that silly show Smallville. I guess I wasn't the only one because we received a card in the mail letting us know that by the end of the day on the 30th (TODAY) we would have the CW Network! Yay!

3. Saturday J and I went to Trek Expo in Tulsa and I got to meet Mark Sheppard! *Squee* J met Laura Vandervoort from Smallville and V. We also got to listen to William Shatner and Michael Dorn (among a few others) tell some really great and fun stories. I'm going to try to write a blog post on the event. Mainly so I can remember it later.

4. When did The Kiddo get so big? My baby is growing up. I like him at this age, it's fun but . . . WHERE'S My Baby?!!?

5. I LOVE McDonald's Iced Coffee. It's one of my favorite things in the world. However, I can't go buy one everyday. I do have rent and groceries and bills to pay too. So I started making my own iced coffee at home. It doesn't always taste exactly like McDonald's but it's still delicious and I'm enjoying some right now. Much cheaper. Sometimes, I still grab a McDonald's coffee though.

6. I started messing around with painting a bit. I think I may snap a picture of my favorite one (Already two people with grabby hands for that one. Feel bad to sell it to them though, they are family) and post it in a blog.

7. Alright, I think I'm done here for now. It's been so nice playing Random Tuesday Thoughts again! Have a great day everyone!!

1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . .

Occasionally J's XBox acts up and we have to turn it off, wait and turn it back on.

Sometimes it's while we're trying to watch Netflix. I'll turn it off and count to ten with the Kiddo and then turn it back on.

Well, the other day the controller wasn't working to turn it on so I told the Kiddo to push the button on the actual XBox to turn it on

He walked up to the XBox, looked at it and proceeded to count 1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . all the way to ten before pushing the power button.

I found this funny. I guess he thinks you always have to count to ten before you turn it on.

What is going on around here?

Who turned out the light?

I was in the shower last night and there was a knock at the locked door. (Locked because I like to be alone while in the shower, call me crazy.)

Kiddo: Mommy! I have to go potty!

So, I hopped out of the shower (dripping as I went), quickly unlocked the door and hopped back in the shower.

The Kiddo then came bursting in and threw the door wide open. This allowed me to reach out of the shower curtain and lock the door. I did this so that when he ran out of the bathroom the door would once again be locked and I could enjoy my shower alone.

When the Kiddo finished he proceeded to run through his normal routine when exiting the bathroom . . . light off, door shut.

Now I'm in the shower, in our bathroom that has no windows, in the PITCH BLACK DARK . . . and the door is locked so I can't call for him to open the door and turn the light back on.

I had to climb out of the shower and make my way to the light switch in the dark, dripping wet.

The joys of being a Mom!

Avocados Anyone?

I received one suggestion yesterday when I asked for subjects to write about. Cate, from Show My Face suggested I write about Avocados.

You know, I have no idea what an Avocado actually tastes like. Not all by itself anyway. I mean, I love Guacamole, that stuff is fantastic. However, I've never just sliced open and Avocado and ate it.

J's cousins do that. They cut the Avocado in half and eat it with a spoon. I can't do it. I have some kind of mental block or something. It just looks as though it would be mushy and ick. It's much more appealing when its mixed with all kind of other things and called Guacamole.

Now that I'm sitting her thinking about it I can't think of anything else that involves Avocado.

Does anyone have any good Avocado recipes?

No News . . .

It says: Last Published May 13, 2010

No!! I miss it around here a lot. I'm having an awful time trying to get back into the blogging groove. Not to mention the lack of subjects to blog about . . . I've got nothing.

If you have any (ANY) suggestions for topics feel free to leave them here. Also if there are any links to web sites that will help me with topics I would love to see those too.

Things around here have been pretty quite. Nothing new going on. I'm not complaining though. No news is good news, right? (Around here, it really is.)

Until next time . . .
