Fun At The DMV

I moved to Oklahoma from Pennsylvania and without a Birth Certificate was not able to have my Driver's License changed.

This went on for a while and I didn't really think about it until my Pennsylvania license was about to expire. So, I got online and found a place to order my birth certificate. Twenty-five dollars later I had a birth certificate and I could have my license switched.

Of course I live in this ridiculous little town that just LOVES to complicate things. The Department of Motor Vehicles is located in the courthouse, employs ONE man, is open ONLY on Thursdays in February (Thursday and Friday all the other months) and on those Thursdays the hours of operation are 8 AM - 12 PM!

That's right folks! ONE man, one one day a week for four hours! Someone didn't think that through!

After dealing with them being closed due weather and also on Fridays in February, which I didn't know at the time, and my license subsequently expiring I FINALLY got in to see the ONE man. Guess what he told me? He told me that since my license was expired I would have to Re-Test!

Re-take the Written Test. Re-Take the Road Test! I'm too old to be re-taking drivers tests!

Having no other way around it I went to see the ONE again this morning. I was there at 8 AM and left at about 10:50 PM and I was number 21 on the sign-in list. After waiting all that time it was finally my turn to take the written test. I totally passed! (Booyah! As Cate would say!)

Of course the schedule for the road tests was full and I now have to GO BACK next Thursday to see the ONE again!!! At which time I get to re-take the road test. I'm not particularly excited (At all) but I DO want my drivers license back!

Hey, town where I live, fix your crap!

Booyah to you for passing but it really sucks you still have to go back again!

The good news is that next week is also March, so maybe they'll also be open again on Fridays? That sounds really backwards. But, yes, BOOYAH on passing test #1. I'd be more afraid of the written test than the road test. Good luck!

Wow!! What ridiculousness!! I'd have been calling around and seeing if I can get my license from another county since mine SUCKED. I am NOT looking forward to having to go to the DMV. (Got married, have to change the name on my license. Bleh!)
