Cats! Cats?

Overheard in my house -

Kiddo: Daddy, can we go outside and play?

J: No, it's too cold outside, you'll get sick.

Kiddo: Daddy, cold doesn't make you sick.

Me: Kiddo, what makes you sick?

Kiddo: Cats!

Well, in his defense, cats do make him sick. :)

HGotW: Tim Hutton

Like last week I was going to wait until the new season of Leverage premiered to post this weeks Hot Guy but I just couldn't wait.

In case you haven't notice "Hot" around here can be interpreted many different ways. Hot, Cute, Sexy, Adorable, Drool Worthy, etc. So, if one of our guys doesn't strike you as "hot" maybe he falls into one of these other categories.

I know I saw this weeks guy before Leverage but I don't think I could tell you where. And, to be honest when I first watched Leverage I was all about Christian Kane. However . . . It didn't take long before I noticed that other guy!

Oh my word! And his voice and his hair and he's just so . . . *Sigh*

And just so I'm not thought of as totally shallow I have to say this guy is a great actor! (He won an Oscar, for crying out loud!) Leverage is lots of fun, of course but there are other things that he's done that are really good as well.

I enjoyed Five Days to Midnight at lot. (I LOVE the chemistry he has with Kari Matchett and I really wish she were on Leverage more!) I also really liked Beautiful Girls. It took me FOREVER to watch that movie because I was totally afraid I was going to be grossed out but I wasn't. It's a good movie.

Oh, enough talk!

Tim Hutton

Seriously, that hair. I really want to play with it. (No, I am Not creepy!)

Although, I must say I do wonder sometimes what these people would think if they stumbled on my blog one day and I was all "drooly" about them. Creeped out? Flattered? Calling the lawyer for a restraining order?

I was going to go with a different lady today but I thought I would keep the Leverage theme going. So, my choice for today is . . .

Beth Riesgraf

Beth just seems so sweet. I love watching interviews and reading her Twitter. She is also a very talented photographer.

Together . . .

You can follow both Tim and Beth on Twitter here: @TimHutton and @BethJRiesgraf

Kissing the Blarney Stone

If you've been reading this blog for a bit you probably know that I'm a big fan of Ireland.

I want to visit Ireland more than I want to visit anywhere else on earth! It's been a desire of mine for years and years and years. My best friend and I talked about it for a bit but life happened and the trip didn't. I admit, I was disappointed. Even though I was pretty sure from the beginning that we weren't actually going to make it there.

I've often thought of what I would do there if I got to go. What things I would put on my "Must Do In Ireland" list?

A visit to a castle? Definitely! Lunch in a pub? A must! Kissing the Blarney stone? Of course!

This was my list until I talked to my Mom . . .

While at work one day she met a man and they began to talk. He told her that his Mom was from Ireland and she would tell them all sorts of stories. My Mom, of course, informed him that I have always wanted to visit there.

Then he told her the story of the blarney stone! He said his Mom told them the story of when she was younger, her young male friends would go to the blarney stone . . . and PEE ON IT!! (Ick! Gag! Gross!!) Then, they would stand back and watch as the people lined up to kiss it.

DISGUSTING!!!!!

He did tell my Mom that this was a long time ago when his Mother was younger. He also said he was pretty sure there were still kids today that found this sort of entertainment amusing.

Moral: Don't kiss the blarney stone unless A. you're REALLY brave or B. you take your own disinfectant! Maybe both!

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

Random Tuesday Thoughts by Keely is still on Hiatus but that won't stop the rebels! We're linking up over at Stacy's place. Feel free to join us! Click the box!

randomtuesday

1. The Kiddo was sick a few days last week! I don't like him to be sick but if he HAD to be sick I'm glad it was LAST week and not today because we're getting on an airplane today and THAT would be bad!

2. We're getting on an airplane today! Two PM flight! Excited! (Although, I hate the airport!)

3. Does anyone know how to blog from a phone? Like, can I text or e-mail a post? Or is there an app for that?? An app that I can write a post with and post it? Maybe along with a picture? Or do I just need to go to the web on the phone and do it from there?

4. I have a friend. (A few actually, don't look so surprised.) Anyway, this particular friend is The thriftiest person I know with amazing Amazon skills. She has a Gorgeous little girl (who was born 3 mo. premature but is doing amazing now at 16 mo.) and another baby on the way! I've been after her to start blogging for a while now and she Finally did! Please check out her blog! The Save At Home Mom

5. Saw a Really Neat idea for Easter at Our Life in a Click. A yarn maze, leading to an Easter basket! So cool! Totally planning on using that!

6. I hope that while I'm in Pennsylvia I don't forget all my TKD! I guess I'll need to take some time to practice while I'm there. I'm so self conscious though . . . I'll have to hide somewhere so no one can see me! lol

7. I'm going to Pennsylvania today!!!!! (At least that's the plan!!!!!!) I'm SOOOO EXCITED!!!! Did I say that already? Oh well! There it is again!!!

8. Thursday (At least this is the plan) we're going to Philadelphia. J wants to see the art museum. Something to do with Rocky . . . I hate that movie . . . Anyway! After (before?) that we're heading to the Franklin Institue for some fun. I think the Kiddo will love it! I haven't been there since I was Little. Like, really little. I'm excited!

9. Monday night the stereos were stolen out of both our car and our truck. I'm SO CRANKY! Apparently it happened ALL over our town! Those were NICE stereo/CD players! However, I am thankful that thats all that was stolen and we're all safe. But I want my stereo back!

I think that's enough random for today. I hope you all have a great day!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday! (On Monday!) III

For the past couple weeks I've been linking up over at Ramblings and Photos for Scavenger Hunt Sunday. I'm going to link up this week too! I'm not sure that I'll make it for the next couple weeks since we'll be in Pennsylvania but for today, I'm here!

If you want to know what it's all about grab this box and find out!

The prompts this week were 1. Motion 2. Waiting to Click 3. Fashion 4. Animals Perspective and 5. Many. I've been busy this week so some of these aren't really what I wanted but a couple of them are favorites so I suppose it balances out!

1. Motion
A car in definite motion. I snapped this one riding along the freeway. In case you couldn't guess this is not one of my favorites. It is, however, one of my last minute photos!

2. Waiting to Click

You have to wait for that perfect time when snapping a sunset. Not too high, not too low.

3. Fashion

Another one of my least favorites. Not exactly very "fashionable" but lots of clothes! I was working on packing for our trip and snapped a quick picture.

Stay tuned. The next two I really like!

4. Animals Perspective
I. Love. This. Picture.
Taking a picture from an animals perspective was interesting. This is what it must look like to a cat or a dog when you are about to pet it. I even did the black and white because of the "Dog's are color blind" thing. (Who decided that anyway? Did someone interview a dog??)
Anyway, this is my favorite of this week!!

5. Many

The Kiddo has tried to pack his rock collection to take to show Grammy more than once now. I told him that there was no way those rocks were getting on the plane but we would take a picture to show Grammy. So, here it is. The Kiddo's rock collection. Many many rocks!

So, that's it for this weeks scavenger hunt. Like I said, I was a bit lazy with a couple of these but for me the "Animal's Perspective" picture makes up for it. I really love that one!

I hope you have a great day!!

Sunday Silly - Dear Abby

Time for another e-mail. I did not write this I simply received it in my inbox and I'm passing it along for you to enjoy as well!

How would you answer these?!

Dear Abby

Dear Abby, A couple of women moved in across the hall from me. One is a middle-aged gym teacher and the other is a social worker in her mid twenties. These two women go everywhere together and I've never seen a man go into or leave their apartment. Do you think they could be Lebanese?

Dear Abby, What can I do about all the Sex, Nudity, Fowl Language and Violence on My VCR?

Dear Abby, I have a man I can't trust. He cheats so much, I'm not even sure the baby I'm carrying is his.

Dear Abby, I am a twenty-three year old liberated woman who has been on the pill for two years. It's getting expensive and I think my boyfriend should share half the cost, but I don't know him well enough to discuss
money with him.

Dear Abby, I've suspected that my husband has been fooling around, and when confronted with the evidence, he denied everything and said it would never happen again.

Dear Abby, I joined the Navy to see the world. I've seen it. Now how do I get out?

Dear Abby, I was married to Bill for three months and I didn't know he drank until one night he came home sober.

Remember these people can vote!!

Shopping Cards

Here in Oklahoma, as well I'm sure in other areas, we have gas pumps at our Walmart. They typically have the cheapest gasoline around. But there's even more incentive to purchase your gasoline at Walmart.

You see, if you go inside and put some money on one of these:

Then you get three cents off per gallon. I know three cents doesn't sound like much but lately . . . it adds up!

Anyway, we get these gasoline cards and sometimes I reuse a card but more often than not I'm in a hurry. I run into the store, purchase a card and head for the gas pumps. I empty the card at the pump and toss it in my purse.

What I'm left with is this:

A stack of empty gift cards in a pocket of my purse.

When I notice this pile of cards, do I throw them away? No way! Some of them are really cute! Of course that's not why I don't throw them away. I keep them because occasionally there are times when you're stuck somewhere boring with a four year old.

Four year olds like to play with things. They also have good imaginations. You see, a stack of cards like this could also be a . . .

A pretend deck of cards. Or . . .

Supplies to build cute little buildings. Or . . .

They can fight each other! (That's a poplular one among the boys.)

See? A four year old can do a lot with leftover shopping cards.

They're not the best toy on the block but they do well in a pinch. I'll keep that stack of cards in my purse.

HGotW: James Roday

I was going to wait until Psych came back with new episodes to feature this guy but I just couldn't wait.

Do you watch Psych? You really should! It's LOTS of fun! I love the characters so much! I can't really pick out which one is my favorite because they're all great!

Psych is sort of a comedy version of The Mentalist (and Shawn actually references The Mentalist a few times in the series).

Shawn Spencer is hyper-observant (is that a thing? Oh well, it is now), noticing all kinds little details that others miss. Using this talent he poses as a psychic and opens a detective agency with his best friend. The police often call on him to aid in solving cases using his "psychic" abilities. It is a very entertaining and funny show! Give it a try!

Tired of my exposition? Just want some Hot Guy? Alright, here ya go . . .

James Roday

Seriously, I just love him.

This weeks featured female also stars in Psych as Police Detective Juliet O'Hara.

Maggie Lawson

And Together . . .

That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed it! Come back!

Top Ten - Stores

Top Ten . . .

An occasional post listing my Top Ten . . . Whatever's appeals to me. I don't think it will be a weekly thing. Possibly a bi-monthly thing or more likely a whenever the heck I want thing.

Now, what kind of Top Ten lists can I make? Top Ten movies? Top Ten cereals? Top Ten ice cream flavors? I could really have fun with this!

I think I shall start with my Top Ten Stores. This list will not include Internet retailers or restaurants. That's for another list. :)

1. Walmart
Of course this is my favorite store. They normally have good prices and a good selection of products. They also happen to be the only big store anywhere close to me.

2. Dollar Tree
Cheap and cute! Sure you end up with junk sometimes but occasionally you can find some great deals there.

3. Hobby Lobby
So. Much. Fun. I have an awful time going into Hobby Lobby and not buying anything. They're awesome for seasonal items and they provide great ideas for crafts for my Sunday School Kiddos.

4. Ross
Often they have Great clothes for great prices! I've found some of the cutest things there. I can spend forever in that store because the selection is so huge.

5. Bed, Bath and Beyond
While this store can be a bit expensive I just love to walk around and look at everything. If I had an unlimited budget I would probably decorate my house from that store. And all the kitchen stuff?? Love!

6. Victoria's Secret
I usually can't afford them either but they have one thing I can't get anywhere else. Love Spell Perfume. I love Love Spell Perfume from Victoria's Secret. I discovered it in college and I've never found another kind that I like even half as much.

7. Target
I don't really get to Target that often and too be honest they're a bit pricey for me. However, there's that area, right when you walk in the door. You know the place. The dollar section. I love that part of Target! Also, Target tends to have good deals on Movies and TV shows on DVD.

8.  Thrift Stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army, consignment shops)
I'm not picky. I don't need NEW clothes. I just need new to me clothes. :) And if I can get new to me clothes in good shape for inexpensive prices I'm a happy person.

9. Hallmark
How can you not love Hallmark? Sure, they're pricey but they have so many great gifts. Also, two words: Christmas Ornaments.

10. Barnes and Noble
To be honest, I don't buy books in stores. I don't usually buy movies or music in stores either. I can find better prices online. There's just something about a book store that I love. Grab a coffee, grab a book, sit in a corner and read. Good way to spend some time.

This concludes the first Top Ten post in what I'm sure will be a series. What are your favorite stores?

Random Tuesday Thoughts (Bring 'em back!)

Two weeks ago Keely, the creator of Random Tuesday Thoughts, decided to put RTT on hiatus for a bit. Last week I skipped my Random Tuesday Thoughts post . . . and went into withdrawl. Not again!

This week I'll link up over at Stacy's blog. We will gather there until Keely's break is over. (I'm not mad at Keely. She's been an awesome host, she deserves a break! I, on the other hand, can't quit!)

So, grab the box and link up at Stacy's place!

1.  Next Tuesday we get on a plane and head for Pennsylvania! I'm SO SUPER EXCITED!!! I'm also a bit nervous. I don't like airports. It's not the the air travel that bothers me, it's the airports. Airport security people are almost ALWAYS rude and unpleasant. Then there's the CROWDS! Bleh! The only thing that makes it all worth it is that I'll see my family!

2. I hate packing. Hate. I'm always worried I'll forget something important. Sure, I make lists. But, what if I forget to put something on the list?

3. I've been saying for Ages that my computer needs a name. I've already named my phone (Chloe) and my iPod (Rupert) and I'm not sure how my computer was left out. I've remedied this situation though. My computer now has her very own name! Sasha!

4. I was reading blogs the other day and read a post on Tia's blog about Instagram. I went right to the app store and downloaded it. I. Am. Hooked. Oh my word! I love it! So fun!

5. Currently reading: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for #jhbc (Jazz Hands Book Club). This book contains some of the strangest sentences I have ever read!! Ever!

6. Words With Friends? I'm ADDICTED! Play a game with me! (And when that one is over, play another one with me!) I'm Justaddjava! P.S. Play WwF with me to feel good about yourself because I'm no good! Haha.

7. I dreamed yesterday morning about a Really Hot guy! (Sorry J. I can't help my dreams.) I've seen him before. I think he's an actor but I have NO IDEA where I've seen him! I wish I knew! Driving me nuts!

I think that should do it for todays Random Thoughts! Thanks so much for stopping by!! :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday! (On Monday!) II

Last week I participated in Scavenger Hunt Sunday and had lots of fun. I'm doing it again this week! The prompts this week are 1. High Key 2. Bedroom 3. Something Tiny 4. Off in the Distance and 5. Stripes.

The following are my interpretations of these prompts. If you would like to see others or participate yourself then click the box below and be whisked to Ramblings and Photos where Ashley hosts this awesome meme.

1. High Key
I need to restate right here that I am not a photographer and had NO idea what High Key was until I checked out some other scavenger hunt entries. To be honest, I don't even know if this qualifies. So, if it does, well, there it is. If it doesn't then consider this pic a freebie (because I liked it) and assume I skipped this prompt because of sheer ignorance. :)

2. Bedroom
This is the wall in my Kiddo's bedroom. These have been here since we moved in, when the Kiddo was still in a crib. The decor in his room is now Outer space and Solar System so we've left the stars and the moon on the wall.

3. Something Tiny
When I read "Something Tiny" ants were the first thing that popped into my mind! Trying to get an in focus photo of tiny ants with a 12 mp digital camera or an iPod Touch is Not Easy! But, here they are!

4. Off in the Distance
I know it's not THAT far in the distance but I LOVE this tree!

5. Stripes
With "Stripes" as the prompt I almost had to use something from my kitchen! I have stripes everywhere in there, being decorated in Americana and all. I was wandering around when I noticed that this actually has stripes and the word stripes on it. That was it.

That concludes this weeks Scavenger Hunt! I hope you had fun! I sure did!!

Silly Sunday - Excuse Notes

Time for another fun E-mail!

all fairness to pupils throughout the land, I must point out that slaughtering the English language is a practice that is not limited only to students. An astonishing number of grownups blithely go about murdering the King's English without any inkling that they are committing a serious crime.

If you think that today's students aren't learning all they should, check out some of the writing miscreated by their moms and dads. the following are actual excuse notes received by teachers.

Enjoy!

"My son is under the doctor's care and should not take P.E. today," wrote a parent. "Please execute him."

"Please excuse Mary for being absent," wrote another parent. "She was sick and I had her shot."

These drastic measures were inadvertently taken in notes written by parents to excuse their children's absences from school.

Dear School: Please eckuse John being absent on Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and also 33.

Pleazse excuse Roland from P.E. for a few day. Yesterday he fell out of a tree and misplaced his hip.

John has been absent because he had two teeth taken off his face.

Mary could not come to school because she has been bothered by very close veins.

Chris will not be in school cus he has an acre in his side.

Please excuse Tom for being absent yesterday. He had diarrhea and his boots leak.

Irving was absent this morning because he missed his bust.

Please excuse Harriet for missing school yesterday. We forget to get the Sunday paper off the porch. and when we found it Monday, we thought it was Sunday.

Please excuse my son's tardiness. I forgot to wake him up and I did not find him till I started making the beds.

Please excuse Mary from being absent yesterday. She was in bed with gramps.

Gloria was absent yesterday as she was having a gangover.

Please excuse Burma, she had been sick and under the doctor.

How Did You Know?

Let me set the scene:

The Kiddo is playing in his room. I am in the living room. Then I hear a jump on the bed.

Me: Don't jump on the bed.

Kiddo is still playing in his room. Soon I hear another jump on the bed, although this one is quieter.

Me: I said don't jump on the bed.

Kiddo: How did you know??

Me: Because I'm smart.

Kiddo: Don't be smart.

When he says "How did you know?" I'm always tempted to say "Because I know EVERYTHING!!!" Followed by some form of maniacal laughter . . .

But I don't want to lie to him. Haha. You know, or scare him. Haha. It's still fun this way.
